CD Review, Free Your Mind

Anarbor has over 2 million plays on their Myspace and relationships that go all the way back to middle school, even kindergarten for Mike (guitarist) and Slade (singer/bassist), and they are ready to take on the rock world one set of ears at a time.

The band formed in 2003 while all of the members were in middle school. They spontaneously choose their roles in the band and practiced their asses off until they sounded like a real band. Spending a lot of time absent from school to play shows along the east coast as well as at South by South West, the music festival for rising bands in Austin, Texas.

Spending their senior year of high school showcasing for record labels and playing shows on the weekend, in March of 2008 Anarbor released the EP “Hearing Colors, Seeing Sounds” independent of a record label. The album peaked at # 62 on Amazon.com’s Top Album Chart.

Anarbor caught the eyes of Hopeless Records while playing in LA, and were signed to the label before graduating high school in 2008. They recorded a 4 song record titled, “The Natural Way” with producer Mike Green, (Paramore and Good Charlotte) and after graduation went out on tour. They have shared the stage with the likes of Cartel, Fall Out Boy, The Academy Is, This Providence, and many more.

Having just finished the Take Action Tour with Meg and Dia, Cute is What We Aim For, Breath Carolina, and Every Avenue, they released the “Free Your Mind” EP on Hopeless Records in March of 2009. They are currently on tour with Forgive Durden, You, Me and Everyone We Know, and Light the City which will hit the Webster Underground on May 5.
