Unique high pitched vocals mixed with heavy melodic instrumentals and then combined again with harsh vocals can only be the sound of 6-piece post–hardcore band, A Skylit Drive.
Hailing from Lodi, California, the bands original members met in high school. They released their debut EP “She Watched the Sky” in early 2007 on Tragic Hero [records]. After this release they toured with numerous bands, including, Scary Kids Scaring Kids, Dance Gavin Dance, Greely Estates, and From First to Last.
Jordan Blake (lead vocals) left the band to pursue other avenues and was permanently replaced with Michael “Jag” Jagmin, formally of Odd Project after their first EP. The rest of A Skylit Drive include Corey LaQuay (drums, vocals), Kyle Simmons (keyboards), Nick Miller (Guitar), Brian White (bass, vocals), and Joey Wilson (guitar).
In May of 2008 the band released their full length album, “Wire…and the Concept of Breathing.” They performed Bamboozle Left that same year and went on to tour with Sky Eats Airplane, Breath Carolina, and Emarosa that summer to promote their album.
In December 2008 the band released it’s first live tour DVD titled, “Let Go of the Wires”. The band has filmed several music videos in conjunction with the non-profit organization To Write Love On Her Arms, bringing awareness to teen suicide.
A Skylit Drive will be touring as part of the Van Warped Tour this summer and on January 8, 2009 the band announced through their Myspace that they are now a part of Fearless Records.
A Skylit Drive is currently in the studio recording with Casey Bates (chiodos) and are expecting to release their second full length album sometime in 2009, the title of which has been kept under wraps.
The band is currently co-headlining the Artery Foundation Tour with Dance Gavin Dance, Attack Attack!, Lower Definition, and In Fear and Faith, which will swing through the Webster Underground on April 28.
