When Catch 22 was coming to an end and B.O.T.A.R. was nearing completion there was a general thought of what’s next. Luckily the band that spun out of these two great ska acts was what we all know today as Streetlight Manifesto. The hardest pounding band in ska today has been around since 2003 when their first record “Everything Goes Numb,” was released. Since then they have toured non-stop playing by all accounts “one of the best live shows we’ve ever seen.”

Led by guitarist and lead singer Tomas Kalnoky who pours himself into each and every song on stage the band sports an amazing seven members. Ironically, the second album ever recorded by Streetlight was a remake of “Keasbey Nights,” which was the first ever album recorded by Catch 22. With a heavy touring schedule the band has managed to put out just three albums in seven years as a band. One of their common touring partners Reel Big Fish has helped the band become huge on the underground ska circuit.

With the 2007 release of “Somewhere in the Between,” the band took another step forward and out of the shadows of Catch 22. This third studio album was a true masterpiece showcasing everything from Tomas’ energy to drummer Chris Thatchers’s incredible beat keeping ability to the over the top horn performances by Mike Brown, Jim Conti, Mike Soprano and Matt Stewart. For a band that has seen more lineup changes than any other band can imagine having they have stuck it out and created some of the great ska songs of the past ten years.

Wheather you are a ska fan or not, Streetlight Manifesto is one of the best live bands in the business and is worth every penny. Not only will you have a great time but you might even hear some amazing music. Streetlight rolls into Hartford’s Webster Theater on October 3rd.
