Originating in the country’s tiny power center, Washington DC, You, Me, and Everyone We Know is gradually climbing up the ladder in the world of power-pop rock music. Their combination of clever lyrics and upbeat riffs brings the band and anyone who listens to life.
You, Me, and Everyone We Know has gone through their fair share of ups and downs to get to where there are today. The original line-up was made up of musicians from around the DC area, but since forming in 2006 many of the members have been replaced. The bands name comes from the 2005 movie, Me You And Everyone We Know and currently is compromised of, vocalist Ben Liebsch, rhythm guitarist/vocalist Rico Vigil, lead guitarist/vocalist Noel Milford, and finally bringing the band together, drummer Aaron Stern (formally of Matchbook Romance).
After releasing their 8-song EP “Party for the Grown and Sexy” in 2006, You, Me and Everyone We Know played sets at South by Southwest, The Bamboozle Festival and Warped Tour. They went on to support bands including, Sing it Loud, The Color Fred, The Dear Hunter, and I Am The Avalanche, on tour as well.
After extensive touring, the band’s van was destroyed by a fire, which they took as a sign that would get them back into the studio to record their second album. They worked with producer Josh Cain of Motion City Soundtrack to record their second EP, “So young, So insane”. The EP was released November 18th 2008 and they were already back in touring mode, playing shows throughout November and December with bands I Set My Friends on Fire and Karate High School. They also gave away free downloadable copies of the entire EP for a limited time after its release, just as they did for their first EP, which reached over 30,000 downloads and was applauded by the industry and fans alike.
You, Me and Everyone We Know has an “unsigned and just fine” attitude when it comes to record labels. The band that has become so successful over the past 3 years feels that they will do just fine without signing to a label. Guitarist Rico Vigil states on his Myspace that “The days of ‘needing’ a label is gone for us.” Both of their albums have been released independently. In an interview for changetherecord.net Rico also stated that, “with the way the music industry is getting to be, putting yourself in the “once we’re signed” mindset can really slow you down”
You, Me and Everyone We Know is busy touring as usual. They are currently on tour with Forgive Durden and Anarbor and will come through the Webster Underground on May 5th. After that they will be on tour for most of June with Take Cover and Asteria, and from there they will make an appearance on the Vans Warped Tour between July 24 and August 1st.
